Welcome to POVA! The Port of Pend Oreille owns and operates the Pend Oreille Valley Railroad (POVA). Located in beautiful Northeast Washington, POVA owned tracks run from Metaline Falls to Newport. POVA leases trackage from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) from Newport, Washington to Dover, Idaho. We provide low cost rail transportation services, including switching services, to meet the needs of our shippers.

We have a complete shop facility to maintain our own fleet of locomotives and other railroad equipment. Our shop contracts with other railroads to work on their locomotives as well.

Our track crews maintain the POVA line to meet current FRA requirements for Class II trackage.

The Port District, in partnership with the City of Newport, EDC, PUD and other agencies is also currently in the process of trying to establish an Industrial Park in Newport.
